2. LE SOUVENIR DU JAPON

Exhibitor at Okayama Art Summit 2016, Yu Araki premiered two short films “WRONG REVISION” and “Mountain Plain Mountain” at the International Film Festival Rotterdam in 2018, and the latter won the Ammodo Tiger Short Film Award.

“WRONG REVISION” , inspired by the Japanese traditional process by which an octopus is dried and preserved, was exhibited at the previous Okayama Art Summit. He received a special mention for it at the 35th Kassel Documentary Film and Video Festival in Germany in 2018.

Araki was born in Yamagata in 1985. His work has been shown at exhibitions including “The Way Things Do” , Fundació Joan Miró, Barcelona (2017), “Bivalvia:” Act I, MUJIN-TO Production, Tokyo (2017), “LOST HIGHWAY (SWEDED)” , VOLVO STUDIO AOYAMA, Tokyo (2018). A solo exhibition “LE SOUVENIR DU JAPON” is being held at Shiseido Gallery, Tokyo until the 23rd of June.
